What If I am still covered by my spouse's health insurance?

You may be able to delay Medicare enrollment Part B if you have Creditable Coverage.

Which is better Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage?

It depends on your health needs, travel habits, risk aversion, and monthly income.  So many factors come into play which is why we do a needs assessment to make sure you are getting the plan you need.

What if I miss an enrollment period, what are my options?

You may qualify for the Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you have extenuating circumstances.  (loss of employment, divorce or other life circumstance)

How do I sign up for Medicare Part B if I already have Part A?

If you have Medicare Part A, but you did not enroll in Medicare Part B during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), you may sign up during the General Enrollment Period (GEP), or you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).

Will my Medicare premiums be higher because of my higher income?

Some people with higher income may pay a larger percentage of their monthly Medicare Part B and prescription drug costs based on their income. We call the additional amount the income-related monthly adjustment amount.

How can I get help with my Medicare Part A and Part B premiums?

States must help pay some of the Medicare costs for beneficiaries who have limited income and resources. Under these programs, states help pay for Medicare Part A and Part B premiums, deductibles and copayments. Some of these programs also pay additional Medicare expenses for elderly and disabled people.

To find out if you are eligible for state help, contact your local medical assistance office. A representative can tell you the specific requirements and help you apply.

Should I sign up for Medicare Part B if I have Veterans' Benefits?

Signing up for Medicare Part B may provide you with additional service and location options.

If you don’t sign up for Part B when you are first eligible:

  • You may have to wait to sign up, which will delay your coverage, and;
  • You may also have to pay a late enrollment penalty for as long as you have Medicare Part B.
How do I get a replacement Medicare card?

If your Medicare card was lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can request a replacement online at Medicare.gov.

You can print an official copy of your card from your online Medicare account or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227 TTY 1-877-486-2048) to order a replacement card to be sent in the mail.

What is "Extra Help" under the Medicare prescription drug program and how can I apply?

Medicare beneficiaries with limited resources and income may qualify for Extra Help paying for their monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and copayments related to prescription drug coverage.

The easiest way to apply for Extra Help is online. You can also call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday to apply over the phone or make an appointment to apply in person at your local Social Security office.
